Our Church
The congregational church in North Chelmsford began with a group of believers in Jesus Christ gathering together in 1821. They soon successfully petitioned the town of Chelmsford to organize a new Christian meeting house in the northwest section of town. A new church building on Middlesex Street was dedicated on January 31, 1822. After a fire in 1893, the current location of the church at 15 Princeton Street in North Chelmsford was established in 1894. An educational wing (including many classrooms, a chapel, church offices, and a gymnasium) was added to the sanctuary in 1959.
In 1980, the church became a recognized member of the nationwide Conservative Congregational Christian Conference, an evangelical fellowship of like-minded churches and credentialed individuals members with ministerial standing. Our church family gathers for regular worship services every Sunday morning, yet we also encourage members and friends to live out our love and faith in Jesus on a daily basis as the “scattered” church” at home, at work, at play, and at places of service to our wider community. We have Sunday School classes for all ages, a gifted choir, a wide-ranging missions program, opportunities for middle and high school students to connect with a regional Young Life ministry, a monthly men’s breakfast, many seasonal special services, a Sunday night praise and prayer meeting, and mid-week Bible studies.
We pray regularly for many other churches in the greater Lowell area, striving to be a responsible church family - serving alongside other believing churches - and desiring to see the advance of God’s love and kingdom work here in this region!
